Sometimes feelings and conflicts are too threatening for a child to face directly.

Art Therapy can assist children experiencing:

  • Family changes
  • Low self-esteem
  • School difficulties
  • Illness and hospitalisation
  • Grief and loss
  • Aggression
  • Emotional difficulties

In art therapy, a child can express conflicts and solve problems through symbolic expression using both art and play. Threatening feelings, fantasies, fears and conflicts can be discovered, clarified and safely released, leading to resolution through the child’s own imagery and imagination. The child learns that they can both manage and face their fears, leading to increased self-confidence and reduced anxiety.

Amanda provides individual art therapy, and a summer holiday program for children aged 3 - 12yrs..
